Canine Wellness

Complete Wellness Care For Your Dog

Wellness care for your dog will lead to a healthier, longer life for your canine family member. Along with your careful observations at home, annual or bi-annual (depending upon the age and medical condition of your dog) are an important part of your dog’s wellness care.

During our wellness exams, we will listen to their heart and lungs, inspect their skin and coat, ears, eyes, nose and throat of your dog. We will give your dog needed vaccines against infectious and potentially fatal diseases. Your dog’s wellness exam is a great time for you to speak with us about any questions or concerns you have regarding your dog’s health. We can discuss diet and nutrition, allergies, dental care, and behavior problems, mobility issues, or any lifestyle and age related changes.

For New Canine Patients

If your dog is new to our hospital, we ask that you bring his or her medical records to the first exam if possible. We also require a fresh sample of stool (no more than twelve hours old) to examine for intestinal parasites. For the safety of your dog and the other clients and patients, please keep dogs on a leash. Please fill out our new client form before bringing your dog in to save time.

Preventive Care for Dogs

Canine Vaccines

We can administer vaccines via injection. We provide the following vaccines for dogs:

  • DHLPP: A basic Canine 5-in-1 vaccine which includes protection against Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza.
  • Rabies: Protection against the common Rabies virus. This vaccine is legally required in most states. We offer a 1 year, or 3 year vaccine for Canines.
  • Bordatella: Protection against Kennel Cough. This vaccine may be required before boarding at most facilities, and can be administered up to 6 months in advance.

We will test a sample of fecal matter from your pet to determine whether or not they have microscopic forms of parasites in their digestive tract.

On an annual basis we will test a small sample of blood to determine whether or not your pet has potentially fatal parasites in the bloodstream or heart.

We can trim your dog’s nails during your dog’s wellness exam too!
